By default if you die, you loose the inventory to.
But this can be deactivated with a simple command.
In order for you to be able to use these commands, you need to be admin on your server.
We describe HERE how you can become admin.
1. Connect to your server
2. Open the chat and enter the following command ( the command is case-sensitive ! ): /gamerule keepInventory true
3. Now save the game with the following command: /save-all
Important: You need to manually save the game or the change is reverted when you stop or restart the server.
