How can I play betas in Steam

Many games on Steam, especially those in Early Access, often have different builds available.
How to select and play with them is explained here.
It's very simple:

1. Right click on the name of the game
2. Click on Properties.
3. Click on Betas
4. In the drop-down menu that appears, you can select a beta version, if available.
   Make sure the version is compatible with your server!
5. For some betas it is necessary to enter a code.
   The required input field can be found below the drop-down menu.
6. Steam should now update the game to the selected beta.
   If not, start the game. Steam should now update the game.
