How to Install Mods on Garry's Mod

To install one or more mods in Garry’s Mod, you first need to subscribe to them on the Steam Workshop.

  1. Navigate to Garry’s Mod in your Steam library, then click on Workshop.
  2. Under the header image, you will see the categories “Home,” “Browse,” “Discussions,” and “About.”
  3. Hover over “Browse” with your mouse and click on Collections.
  4. On the right side of the page, you will find a button that says “Create Collection.” Click on it.
  5. Follow Steam’s instructions to create the collection. (The more unique and descriptive the collection name is, the easier it will be to find it later.)

Once you have finished creating the collection by clicking “Save and Close,” go to the next window and click on “Choose your collection’s items."
Then, click on the “Subscribed Items” tab and add your subscribed mod to the collection by clicking on the “+” sign on the left.
Click on “Save and Continue” at the bottom right.
Finally, in the next window, you need to publish the collection. Click on “Publish."

Now go back to Garry’s Mod in your Steam library and click on Workshop.

NOTE: It may take a while for the collection to become visible!

You can now search for the collection name in the “Search” box in the top right corner.
Once you find your own collection, right-click on it and click on “Copy Page URL."
Paste the copied URL into your web browser and visit the page.
You will now see your newly created collection. The ID of the collection will be displayed at the end of the browser URL.
Copy this Workshop ID (usually a 10-digit number).

In Basic Mode:

In “Basic Config” - “Server Settings,” paste the copied ID into “WorkshopID (custom)."
Save the changes and restart the server.

In Advanced Mode:

In “Configuration” - “Commandline,” paste the ID into “WorkshopID."
Save the changes and restart the server.
